Choosing the right category

Start with passengers and luggage rather than price. A four-seat economy car with space for one suitcase is excellent value for a couple travelling light and frustrating for a family of four with hold luggage.

Then decide on transmission. Rhodes has hills, steep resort access roads and stop-start summer traffic in the resorts, which is where an automatic earns its cost.

Season

Rhodes is a seasonal car-rental destination. Most rental activity takes place during the tourist season, generally from April through the end of October, and exact operating periods vary between rental providers.

July and August are the most constrained weeks, when automatic, cabriolet and larger categories are booked earliest.

Deposits, payment and cover
